Valencia goes wild with Manuela Gostner's encore

01 July 2025

Fifth race weekend of the Ferrari Challenge, held at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia under truly scorching conditions. And not just because of the race results.

The Ineco Reparto Corse RAM team claimed two victories and three podiums in what proved to be a highly demanding challenge for both drivers and the Ferrari 296 Challenge cars, pushed to the limit by the extreme air and track temperatures.

Race 1

In the Pirelli Trophy, Felix Hirsiger got off to a strong start by securing second place in qualifying, but during the race he had to give up positions in the final minutes, finishing fourth. A tense battle right to the last overtake, keeping the title fight wide open.

A much better outcome in the Coppa Shell for Manuela Gostner, who dominated in a solo run. The Italian driver, after taking the fastest time in qualifying, held the lead with determination for the entire 30-minute race, returning to the top step of the podium after Hockenheim. She also claimed the extra point for fastest lap with a 1’35”660. A masterful performance and her first Grand Slam of the season.

In the Coppa Shell AM, a solid showing for Shintaro Akatsu and Germana Tognella, both qualifying in the top 10 and starting side by side. Akatsu finished with an excellent fifth place, while Tognella secured ninth. A strong race for both, offering great takeaways for the future.

Race 2

On Sunday, the Pirelli Trophy saw Felix Hirsiger step back onto the podium in second place, confirming his status as one of the category’s top contenders.

Another standout performance from Manuela Gostner in the Coppa Shell, repeating Saturday’s winning script: pole position, perfect start, and flawless race execution.

A second consecutive Grand Slam and a valuable double win for the overall standings. A weekend to remember for the Italian driver. Unfortunately, Zois Skrimpias was unable to take part in the race weekend.

In the Coppa Shell AM, both drivers were forced to retire early due to separate race incidents. A bitter ending after a promising Saturday.

The weekend closes with another remarkable performance for the entire team, now ready to head into the sixth round of the Ferrari Challenge. The 296 Challenge cars will stay in Spain, with the next race taking place at the Barcelona circuit from July 18 to 20.
